ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed is a fastener for attachment to a wall of predetermined thickness and having a polygonal aperture of predetermined size and shape. The fastener includes a head having face means adapted for abutment against a wall face and includes base means having at least one element located on and extending from the head face means and adapted to extend into a wall aperture and to abut opposed sides and corners of such aperture when the fastener is attached to the wall. Shank means including planar element means extend outwardly from the face means in a direction generally perpendicularly thereto. The planar element means has two opposed planar faces, the planar faces being oriented generally parallel to one another but transversely extending and are spaced perpendicularly apart by a predetermined distance relative to the size of the wall aperture so as to permit insertion of the planar element means through such wall aperture. Each planar element means is joined to the base means by a central stem portion of reduced transverse dimension, thereby providing at least one planar element shoulder having a flexible part extending in opposite directions. At least a part of each shoulder is spaced from the head face means by a distance equal to or less than the predetermined thickness of the wall whereby when the fastener is in aperture association with the wall and the aperture, translation- al and rotational movement of the fastener relative to the aperture in a direction parallel to the plane of the wall is prevented by the at least one element and movement of the fastener relative to the aperture in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the aperture is prevented by the planar element means.
