ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A fastener is disclosed, which comprises an inserting part, a socket having an insertion aperture and an intermediate filament connecting the inserting part and the socket. The inserting part, the front end of which can be inserted through the socket aperture from either direction, has at least one resilient tongue diverging in its free state from the longitu- dinal axis of the inserting part. The aperture is bounded by rigid structure internal of the socket defining an annular surface bounded by outward facing annular abutments. On in- serting the front end of the inserting part through the aper- ture, each tongue is deflected as it passes the annular surface and a rearward facing surface on the tongue at an obtuse angle to the axis of the inserting part then engages behind the abutment which faces away from the direction of entry of the inserting part, locking the latter against withdrawal. The fastener may be moulded in one piece from a synthetic resin.
