A window fastener for controlling the locking and unlocking of a window. The fastener provides an unlocking feature that is manually activated by the user and a locking feature that is automatically activated as the window is moved proximate the closed position. The unlocking feature disengages the fastener from the window and maintains disengagement so that further manipulation of the fastener is not required to facilitate window opening. The fastener also provides a positive confirmation feature that informs the user that the window is either closed and locked or open and unlocked.
