ABSTRACT An elongate pin extends in an axial bore in a threaded fastener, at least one end portion of the pin protruding from the bore. An abutment is provided on said one end portion, which when the fastener is in an unstressed condition may rotate about the longitudinal axis thereof relative to the fastener. When the fastener is tightened, a clearance between the abutment and an end face of the fastener is eliminated so that, when the tension in the fastener reaches a predetermined value, the abutment is no longer free to rotate.
