ABSTRACT A fastener device in combination with a sheet having a rectangular opening formed therein for receiving the fastener device in attachment therewith. The shank has a tool engaging portion and an elongated flange extending across opposite ends of the shank at right angles to the centerline of the shank. A circular flange is disposed aroudn the shank and in spaced relation to the elongated flange. A pair of arcuate shaped cam portions are disposed on a surface of the circular flange facing the elongated flange. The portion of the shank between the circular flange and the elongated flange has a pair of arcuate surfaces and a pair of shoulders. When the elongated flange is inserted into the rectangular opening and tthe fastener device is rotated in a direction through 90°, the cam portions fall into the rectangular opening thereby locking the fastener in place, and one of the shoulder surfaces of each right-angle shoulder inhibits further rotation of the fastener in the direction of rotation by contacting a side of the rectangular opening, while rotation of the fastener device in the opposite direction is effective to cause the cam portions to move out of the rectangular opening, and continued rotation through 90° is effective to cause the opposite shoulder surfaces of each of the right-angle shoulders to contact an opposite side of the rectangular opening, at which point the elongated flange is removable from the rectangular opening.
