A canister-type magazine (2) for a fastener driving tool (1) using a coil of tandemly arranged fasteners (22). The magazine (2) comprises a substantially cylindrical body having a top (19), a bottom (12) and side walls (11). The magazine (2) is openable, providing access to the interior thereof. A cylindrical magazine post (25) extends upwardly from the center of the magazine bottom (12). A pair of latch members (30, 31) are located in diametric openings (27, 28) in the magazine post (25) near the upper end thereof. The latch (30, 31) members are shiftable between a first position wherein they extend beyond the peripheral surface of the magazine post (25) and a second position wherein they are within the confines of the peripheral surface of the magazine post (25). The latch members (30, 31) are biased to their first position. A fastener coil supporting platform (34) is provided having a hollow center post (37) with an interior diameter sized to slidingly receive the magazine post (25). The platform post (37) has at least two pairs of diametric openings (39, 40) in its cylindrical side wall. Each pair of openings (39, 40) in the support post (37) are adapted to be located coaxially with the pair of openings (27, 28) of the magazine post (25) and to receive the latch members (30, 31) in their first extend positions whereby the platform (34) is lockable in at least two positions along the magazine post (25) to accommodate coils of fasteners (22) of at least two different lengths.

Une paire d'éléments à encliquetage (30, 31) sont situés dans des ouvertures diamétralement opposées (27, 28) dans le montant de magasin (25) près de l'extrémité supérieure de celui-ci. Les éléments à encliquetage (30, 31) peuvent passer d'une première position où ils s'étendent au-delà de la surface périphérique du montant de magasin (25) à une deuxième position où ils se trouvent dans les limites de la surface périphérique du montant de magasin (25). Les éléments à encliquetage (30, 31) ont tendance à revenir à leur première position. Le dispositif comporte une plate-forme (34) de support de la spirale d'éléments de fixation munie d'un montant creux (37), dont le diamètre intérieur est dimensionné pour recevoir par coulissement le montant de magasin (25). Le montant de plate-forme (37) comporte au moins deux paires d'ouvertures diamétralement opposées (39, 40) dans sa paroi cylindrique. Chaque paire d'ouvertures (39, 40) ménagées dans le montant de support (37) est adaptée pour être placée de façon coaxiale avec la paire d'ouvertures (27, 28) du montant de magasin (25) et pour recevoir les éléments à encliquetage (30, 31) dans leur première position d'extension, ce qui rend la plate-forme (34) verrouillable dans au moins deux positions le long du montant de magasin (25) pour recevoir des spirales d'éléments de fixation (22) d'au moins deux longueurs différentes.
