An isolated fault monitoring circuit for an AC port in an AC I/O module for a programmable logic controller is taught. Briefly stated, a bridge circuit is series connected to a fuse and an optocoupler. When the fuse which is in series with the AC input line is blown, the output of the optocoupler produces a voltage one-half of that during steady state operation thereby causing one of two comparators to go high which in turn causes an LED to light indicating a blown fuse. Should the AC input line be disconnected or otherwise not present, the optocoupler produces no output which thereby causes the second of the two optocouplers to have its output go high thereby causing a second of the two LEDs to light so indicating that condition. At any time during the fault condition only one of the LEDs will light, while no LEDs are lit during steady state operation.

L'invention porte sur un circuit isolé de surveillance des défaillances constatées sur le port c.a. d'un module c.a. E/S pour un contrôleur logique programmable. Un circuit en pont est relié en série à un fusible et à un coupleur optique. Lorsque le fusible, monté en série avec la ligne d'entrée c.a. saute, le coupleur optique produit une tension égale à la moitié de celle correspondant au fonctionnement normal, ce qui élève la tension de l'un des deux comparateurs et provoque l'allumage d'une DEL indiquant que le fusible a sauté. Si la ligne d'entrée c.a. est débranchée ou hors tension, le coupleur optique n'émet aucun signal, ce qui amène le second des optocoupleurs à produire un signal de sortie plus élevé et à allumer la seconde des DEL qui signale le fait. A aucun moment, et quelle que soit la défaillance, plus d'une DEL s'allume à la fois, et aucune des DEL ne s'allume en fonctionnement normal.
