Fe3O4 FABRICATION PROCESS Abstract of the Disclosure To provide magnetic particles for use in inks for ink jet printers, pure iron is subjected to an evaporation technique in a chamber evacuated down to 10-6mm. Hg and then backfilled with argon to a pressure within 0.1 to 1.0 mm. Hg. The evaporated iron particlessare captured and upon removal from the chamber oxidize immediately such that the particles obtained have a core of Fe2 and a coat of Fe3O4. The particles obtained, as required for ink jet use, have particle sizes ranging from 100.ANG. to 200.ANG. with magnetic moments in the range of 82 to 111 emu/gm.
