In a coating plant, the powder feed device is cooled permanently in order to avoid the deterioration of the powder which could be caused by an excessively high temperature. The air for the fluidization of the powder contained in the reservoir (1) is cool, dry air. A heat exchanger (30) supplies a closed loop circuit comprising an annular cooling chamber (32) and a coil (33) arranged in the path of the powder. The shaft of the worm screw may also be cooled.
