A feed system for conveying loose pieces of a coarse particulate or pelletized hot melt material such as adhesives from a storage container to a melt tank (16). The system includes a transition hopper (14) having insulation (83) between the hopper (14) and the melt tank (16) to prevent premature melting of the loose adhesive pellets or pieces before they pass into the melt tank (16). An air supply for providing air pressure to the interior of the hopper can be attached to the hopper to prevent vapors from rising from the hot melt tank into the transition hopper and a vent opening (91) for exhausting vapors from the hot melt tank (16) can be located in the top of the melt tank (16).

L'invention concerne un système d'alimentation permettant de transporter, d'un conteneur de stockage à un réservoir pour matières fusibles (16), des fragments en vrac de particules de grand diamètre ou des matières thermofusibles réduites en boulettes telles que des adhésifs. Ce système comporte une trémie de transition (14) pourvue d'un élément d'isolation (83) entre la trémie (14) et le réservoir (16) afin d'éviter une fusion prématurée des granulés ou des fragments d'adhésif en vrac avant leur entrée dans le réservoir (16). Il est possible de fixer à la trémie un dispositif d'alimentation d'air destiné à envoyer de l'air sous pression à l'intérieur de la trémie afin d'éviter que des vapeurs ne s'élèvent du réservoir pour matières fusibles jusqu'à la trémie de transition, de même qu'il est possible d'installer une ouverture de ventilation (91) destinée à aspirer ces vapeurs du réservoir (16) au sommet de celui-ci.
