FS 1390 ABSTRACT A feeder sleeve for use in the casting of molten metal, particularly molten ferrous metal, has fixed in its cavity a filter located at least 0.5 cm from its lower end. The filter is prefer- ably located above the lower end of the sleeve by at least 10% and no more than 75% of the height of the sleeve. The sleeve may be formed from exothermic and/or heat-insulating material and the filter is preferably a ceramic foam.
