The present invention concerns a feeding device for animals, such as poultry, of the type which is designed to be supplied with feed by a conveyor tube (60) from which it is suspended. It comprises a plate (10, 110) , a receptacle (20, 120) , the inside of which can, if desired, be connected with the inside of said plate (10, 110), means for connecting said conveyor tube (60) with the inside of said receptacle (20, 120) , and means for controlling the level of feed in said plate (10, 110) when it is connected with the inside of said receptacle (20, 120), said plate (10, 110) thus functioning as a trough.
