A loop fastening material suitable for engagement with a complementary male fastener element incudes a web having a top surface, to which at least one row of filamentary yarn is attached. The yarns span the length of the top surface substantially continuously, and are adapted to be entangled by a complementary male fastener element. The loop fastening material can comprise a composite web, having a base to which the filamentary yarn is secured, and a cover web having perforations which are spaced apart so as to be in register with the filamentary yarn. A method of making the loop fastening material includes the steps of feeding the web, applying the filamentary yarn to adhesive on the top surface of the web, and in the case of the composite web, also feeding a perforated cover web to adhere to the top surface of the web. A disposable absorbent article such as a diaper, infant training pants or adult incontinent brief incorporates the loop fastening material.
