A female connection member for use in a slackless drawbar assembly engaging one end of a railway car. A cavity formed in an outer end of such female member. First and second openings formed through respective ones of a pair of side wall portions of such cavity. Such cavity adapted to receive a portion of a first end of a male connection member therein. An aperture is formed through such first end of the male member to receive a portion of a ball member therein. A pair of shaft members extends from the outer surfaces of such ball member. A portion of one of the pair of shafts is adapted to be disposed in the first opening and a portion of another one is adapted to be disposed in the second opening. Such pair of shafts have opposed flat surface portions. A race assembly is disposed in such aperture and secured to the male member. An inner surface of such race surrounds such ball. Respective ones of a pair of wedges engage respective flat surfaces on such pair of shaft members.
