An absorbent personal care device, such as an interlabial pad, tampon, sanitary pad or liner, or incontinence product adapted to deliver a therapeutic agent to the vaginal epithelium for systemic and topical treatment, the tampon including absorbent material and a formulation including a therapeutic agent, wherein the therapeutic agent is a botanical. The botanical may be, but is not limited to, Agnus castus, aloe vera, comfrey, calendula, dong quai, black cohosh, chamomile, evening primrose, Hypericum perforatum, licorice root, black currant seed oil, St. John's wort, tea extracts, lemon balm, capsicum, rosemary, Areca catechu, mung bean, borage seed oil, witch hazel, fenugreek, lavender, soy, heath, cranberries, blueberries, azaleas, red onion skin, short red bell peppers, long red bell peppers, beet root extract, capsanthin, whortleberry, lingenberry, chokeberry, sweet rowan, rowanberry, seabuckhrouberry, crowberry, strawberries, or gooseberries.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif absorbant d'hygiène personnelle, tel qu'un tampon hygiénique, une serviette ou une protection hygiénique ou encore un produit pour incontinent, qui est prévu pour apporter un agent thérapeutique à l'épithélium vaginal aux fins d'un traitement général et topique, le tampon comprenant une matière absorbante et une formulation renfermant un agent thérapeutique qui est lui-même un phytomédicament. Le phytomédicament peut être, entre autres, Agnus castus, aloe vera, la grande consoude, le calendula, le dong quai, l'actée en grappes, la camomille, l'onagre, Hypericum perforatum, la racine de réglisse, l'huile de graines de cassis, le millepertuis, les extraits de thé, la mélisse officinale, le capsicum, le romarin, Areca catechu, l'ambérique, l'huile de bourrache, l'hamamélis de Virginie, le fenugrec, la lavande, le soja, la bruyère, la canneberge, la myrtille, l'azalée, la pelure d'oignon rouge, le piment rouge lobé court, le piment rouge lobé long, l'extrait de racine de betterave, la capsanthine, l'airelle noire, l'airelle de montagne, la cerise à grappes, le sorbier des oiseaux, la corme, la camarine noire, les fraises et les groseilles à maquereaux.
