23327-127 ABSTRACT A femoral portion of a hip joint prosthesis, has a stem formed as a hollow body with a series of openings on its front and dorsal side. The openings are connected to the hollow interior of the stem and comprise circular and elongated openings alternatingly arranged. A neck is formed with either a spherical head or a receiving portion for a spherical head. A collarless end portion where the stem transforms to the neck is solid. A bore is formed in this solid end portion laterally of the neck, the axis of the bore being substantially aligned with the axis of the hollow interior of the stem.
