Fender protective structures for absorbing compact forces and methods of making such fender protective structures are provided herein. The fender structure includes a durable, hard plastic layer which is disposed over a resilient layer, the resilient layer comprising an alloy of elastomer and plastic. Apertures extend partially into the resilient layer to define a plurality of chambers having a bottom which is located in the resilient layer. Connection means are provided for holding the fender onto the structure by applying compressive force on the resilient layer between the bottom and the structure.
