AN IMPROVED FERMENTATION METHOD AND APPARATUS Abstract of the Disclosure A method and apparatus for fermentation of a biomass comprises use of a fermenter which has two separate impellers driven at different speeds. One impeller is used to achieve circulation of the biomass within the fermenter. The second impeller is used to create a fine dispersion of oxygen fed into the impeller. Typically, the upper impeller in a cylindrical fermenter of vertical axis is an axial flow impeller producing downward flow and the lower impeller produces radially outward flow.
