ABSTRACT Animal bile is aerobically fermented by the action of aerobic microorganisms which have the ability to degrade bile acids or conjugates thereof, e.g., species of the genus Pseudomonas, thereby producing a number of compounds, some of which are new, which are useful as intermediates for the production of pharmaceuticals.
