A fiber cement composite material providing improved rot resistance and durability, the composite material incorporating biocide treated fibrous pulps to resist microorganism attacks. The biocide treated fibers have biocides attached to inner and outer surfaces of individualized fibers to protect the fibers from fungi, bacteria, mold and algae attacks. The biocides selected have strong affinity to cellulose and do not interfere with cement hydration reactions. This invention also discloses the formulation, the method of manufacturing and the final fiber cement products using the biocide treated fibers.

L'invention concerne une matière composite en fibro-ciment présentant une résistance à la pourriture et une durabilité améliorées, la matière composite renfermant des pulpes fibreuses traitées aux biocides pour résister aux attaques de micro-organismes. Les fibres traitées aux biocides ont des biocides attachés à leurs surfaces internes et externes de façon individualisée pour protéger ces fibres des attaques d'algues, de moisissures, de champignons et de bactéries. Les biocides sélectionnés présentent une forte affinité à la cellulose et n'interfèrent pas avec des réactions d'hydratation du ciment. Ladite invention concerne aussi la préparation, le procédé de fabrication et les produits en fibro-ciment finaux utilisant des fibres traitées aux biocides.
