ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A apparatus for positioning optic fibers relative to an object to be sensed including a body having two or more apertures or channels for positioning an emitter optic fiber and at least one detector optic fiber relative to a photoreceptor, sheet or other object to be sensed. The emitter optic fiber projects a light beam toward the object, while one or more detector optic fiber(s) receive light reflected of of the object. Detector optic fibers transmit the light beam reflected from the object, or in the absence of an object, from a reflector to a detector. The detector generates a signal in response to receiving the light beam. The apparatus may also be adapted to detect the density of toner applied to a photoreceptor, colors on a surface, or other conditions.
