ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Method of producing a fiber-reinforced composite material by randomly embedding a three-dimensional network of interconnected polymeric fibers in a thermoplastic matrix, aligning the fibers by subjecting the matrix to an elevated temperature and pressure causing the matrix to flow uniaxially, and cooling the matrix to form a solid composite material exhibiting very high strength. The composites of this invention may be in the form of drawn rods and bars, flat unidirectional reinforced panels and cross-plied, and multilayer panels formed by laminating together unidirectionally reinforced composites at various orientations to each other.
