FIBER-REINFORCED METALLIC COMPOSITE MATERIAL Abstract The invention provides a fiber-reinforced metal composite material comprising a reinforcing material and a matrix. The reinforcing material comprises inorganic fibers containing at least two components selected from carbon (as a simple substance), metal oxides, metal carbides, metal nitrides and metal borides. The matrix comprises metal alloys containing zinc and aluminum, or zinc and magnesium as the main component. The resulting composites have desirable mechanical, thermal and weight characteristics for use in a wide variety of applications.
