A magnetically actuated switch for switching a single fiber to any one of a plurality of other fibers is composed of a fiber support sleeve, a movable optical fiber having a ferromagnetic material secured thereto extending through and fixed at one end of the fiber support sleeve, and a bushing positioned at the opposite end of the fiber support sleeve; said bushing further containing a plurality of fixed fibers positioned within grooves designed to guide the movable fiber into alignment with one of the fixed fibers. The movable fiber is moved into alignment with one of the fixed fibers by use of strategically positioned solenoids and fixed magnets thatinteract with the fiber's attached ferromagnetic material.
