A woven fibre-optic sheet (1) has warp strands (2) formed by sheathed bundles of fine optic-fibres (4). The fibres (4) of each strand (2) are broken pseudo- randomly, different ones at different olocations along its length so that light transmitted into the strands (2) from a source (7) escapes from the various locations (8) to radiate through the transparent sheathing (5). Decorative effect is intensified by periodic light-colour change using a rotating multi-colour filter (9) to distribute different colours to different strands (2). The sheet (1) is woven with metal wire (3), plastics filament or fibre-optic strands as the weft, and the fibres (4) are broken before, during or after weaving.

L'invention concerne une feuille tissée (1) de fibres optiques, comprenant des brins en chaîne (2) formés de faisceaux gainés de fines optiques (4). Les fibres (4) de chaque brin (2) sont cassées au hasard, à différents emplacements sur toute la longueur, de manière que la source (7) de lumière transmise dans les brins (2) provienne de divers emplacements (8) pour rayonner à travers le revêtement transparent (5). L'effet décoratif est intensifié par un changement de couleur claire périodique obtenu à l'aide d'un filtre multicolore rotatif (9) distribuant différentes couleurs à différents brins (2). La feuille (1) est tissée à l'aide de fil métallique (3), de filaments plastiques ou de brins de fibres optiques, constituant ainsi la trame, et les fibres (4) sont cassées avant, pendant ou après le tramage.
