In accordance with the present invention novel fibrin sealants which provoke less of any inflammatory response than prior art sealants, and methods of using such sealants, are disclosed. It has now been found that fibrin sealants can be prepared in a number of ways to selectively include or exclude components which are presently understood to upregulate or downregulate the body's natural inflammatory response. The novel sealants of this invention are useful in any instance where fibrin sealants have known utility. Nonlimiting examples include use in hemostasis, sealing of fluid or air leaks, delivery of cells, tissue repair and wound healing, drug delivery and particularly useful in the prevention of post surgical adhesion formation.
Cette invention concerne de nouveaux agents d'obturation à base de fibrine qui déclenchent une réponse inflammatoire moins forte que les agents d'obturation utilisés à ce jour, ainsi que des méthodes d'utilisation de ces agents. On a constaté que les agents d'obturation à base de fibrine pouvaient être obtenus de diverses manières et inclure ou ne pas inclure des composants dont on pense actuellement qu'ils assurent une régulation positive ou négative de la réponse inflammatoire naturelle de l'organisme. Les nouveaux agents d'obturation selon l'invention conviennent pour tous les cas où l'utilité d'agents d'obturation à base de fibrine est avérée. Ils conviennent notamment, mais pas exclusivement, pour l'hémostase, l'obturation de fuites de fluide et d'air, l'apport de cellules, la réparation tissulaire et la cicatrisation, l'administration de médicaments. Ils sont particulièrement utiles pour prévenir la formation d'adhérences post-chirurgicales.
