(57) Abstract A method for degrading fibrin deposits and preventing such deposits associated with pathological conditions is described, which comprises administering to a subject in need of such treatment a therapeutically effective amount or IL-4 activity, optional- ly in association with one or more pharmaceutically acceptable carriers or excipients. There is also described thrombolytic com positions which comprise IL-4 or a derivalive thereof possessing IL-4 activity together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient.
