Disclosed are human FGF-10 polypeptides and DNA (RNA) encoding such FGF-10 polypeptides. Also provided is a procedure for producing such polypeptide by recombinant techniques. Also disclosed are methods for utilizing such polypeptide for stimulating re- vascularization, for treating wounds and prevent neuronal damage. Antagonists against such polypeptides and their use as a therapeutic to prevent abnormal cellular proliferation, hyper-vascular diseases and epithelial lens cell proliferation are also disclosed. Diagnostic methods for detecting mutations in the FGF-10 coding sequence and alterations in the concentration of FGF-10 protein in a sample derived from a host are also disclosed.

L'invention concerne des polypeptides humains facteur-10 de croissance du fibroblaste (FGF-10) ainsi que l'ADN (ARN) codant lesdits polypeptides FGF-10. L'invention concerne également une procédure de production de ces polypeptides par des techniques de recombinaison. De plus, l'invention concerne des procédés d'utilisation de ce polypeptide afin de stimuler la revascularisation, afin de traiter des lésions et de prévenir une détérioration des neurones. L'invention concerne aussi des antagonistes contre ces polypeptides ainsi que leur utilisation thérapeutique afin de prévenir une prolifération cellulaire anormale, des maladies hypervasculaires ainsi que la prolifération de cellules épithéliales du cristallin. En outre, l'invention concerne des procédés de diagnostic déstinés à détecter des mutations dans la séquence codant le FGF-10, ainsi que des modifications de la concentration de protéines du FGF-10 dans un échantillon dérivé d'un hôte.
