New fibrous nonwoven webs are taught that comprise a mass of polyethylene terephthalate fibers that exhibit a double melting peak on a DSC plot: one peak is representative of a first molecular portion within the fiber that is in non-chain-extended crystalline form, and the other peak is representative of a second molecular portion within the fiber that is in chain-extended crystalline form and has a melting point elevated over that of the non-chain- extended crystalline form. Webs comprising fibers having such a morphology have a unique combination of durability and dimensional stability. The fibers are generally autogenously bonded at points of fiber intersection.
L'invention concerne de nouvelles bandes fibreuses non tissées comprenant une masse de fibres en polyéthylène térephtalate présentant une double crête de fusion sur une représentation DSC (calorimétrie à balayage différentiel): une crête étant représentative d'une première partie moléculaire dans la fibre ne constituant pas une forme cristalline à prolongement de chaîne, et l'autre crête étant représentative d'une seconde partie moléculaire dans la fibre constituant une forme cristalline à prolongement de chaîne et ayant un point de fusion élevé par rapport à celui de la forme cristalline sans prolongement de chaîne. Des bandes contenant des fibres ayant une telle morphologie présentent une combinaison unique de durabilité et de stabilité dimensionnelle. Les fibres sont d'une manière générale liées de manière autogène au niveau de points d'intersection de fibres.
