FIELD-ASSEMBLED STRAND FITTING AND CABLE ASSEMBLY ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved field-assembled strand fitting is disclosed for use in connection with a cable having a stranded inner cable member and an outer conduit member, characterized in that the fitting includes a cylindrical portion containing a longitudinal bore for receiving the stranded inner cable member, and a pair of longitudinally-spaced parallel transverse bores that extend radially inwardly in opposite directions toward and in communication with the longitudinal bore. Retained within the transverse bores by a concentrically arranged outer sleeve member are a pair of locking members, respectively, each having an effective dimension axially of the associated transverse bore to deform an intermediate portion of the stranded inner member into a recess contained in the wall of the longitudinal bore oppo- site the associated transverse bore. An anchoring assembly serves to mount the outer conduit member in an opening contained in a fixed support, the inner cable member then being cut to a desired length prior to fastening of the fitting thereon during field assembly of the cable.
