A fifth wheel coupling (4) for connecting tractor units (2) and semi-trailers (3) for an articulated lorry (1), comprises a coupling device, arranged on the tractor unit (2), for connecting and locking a kingpin fixed to the semi- trailer (3). According to the invention, the best pivoting properties may be achieved with an economical construction, whereby a ball joint (4) is used as fifth wheel coupling, with the joint ball (5) and corresponding retaining clamp (6) on one side and the ball socket (7) which, in the working position, encloses the joint ball (5) from above and shaped spigot piece (8) on the other side. Said joint ball (5) and retaining clamp (6) replace the coupling device and the ball socket (7) and the spigot piece (8) replaces the kingpin.
L'invention concerne une sellette d'attelage (4) destinée à relier le tracteur routier (2) et la semi-remorque (3) d'un semi-remorque (1). Cette sellette présente un dispositif de couplage agencé sur le tracteur routier (2) et conçu pour recevoir et bloquer un pivot d'attelage fixé sur la semi-remorque (3). L'objectif de cette invention est d'obtenir les meilleures caractéristiques de pivotement pour une construction économique. A cet effet, un attelage à boule (4) est utilisé comme sellette d'attelage, avec d'un côté la boule d'attelage (5) et le dispositif de retenue correspondant (6) et, de l'autre côté, la rotule (7) entourant par le haut la boule d'attelage (5) en position de couplage (7) et la saillie formée (8). Selon cette invention, la boule d'attelage (5) et le dispositif de retenue (6) remplacent le dispositif de couplage et la rotule (7) et la saillie (8) remplacent le pivot d'attelage.
