A delivery head assembly for a filament winding device, having an input end for fibrous tows and an output end for applying superimposed layers of the tows in a helical pattern onto a mandrel to produce a generally tubular article having varying contours, in which the delivery head is one of two delivery head assemblies, one comprising an upper distributing, feeding, and cutting assembly and a structurally similar lower distributing, feeding, and cutting assembly disposed in inverted relationship to and at a vertical angle to the upper assembly, the two assemblies being juxtaposed at their output ends and spaced apart from each other at their input ends, and each assembly includes a separate set of rollers for adding the cut tow back into the winding band when that tow is again to be applied to the mandrel, is disclosed.
