The present invention describes fillers and adhesive mixtures comprising wood fly ash waste material, and a method for manufacturing engineered wood products using the same. The filler comprises a processed wood fly ash, where the particles containing carbon and grit have been substantially eliminated, and the remaining particles have a particle size below about an upper particle size level, the upper particle size level being chosen so that to mitigate damaging of cutting tools processing the engineered wood product, while providing mechanical properties of the engineered wood product sufficient for a selected application in the construction industry.
