FILM GUIDANCE APPARATUS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Improved quality and flexibility of development in automatic film processing machines is achieved by mount- ing a special film guidance apparatus ahead of the first processing tank. This film guidance apparatus determines the paths along which the various film strips are intro- duced into the processing machine. The film guidance apparatus has transport rollers forming at least one nip, in front of which there are vanes spaced apart across the width of the transport rollers. These vanes subdivide the space in front of the nip into several channels, with side walls formed by the vanes. Each film strip is introduced into the processing machine by first passing it between the adjacent vanes, and then into the nip of the film guidance apparatus. From there, it is carried to the first processing tank of the machine by the transport rollers of the film guidance ap- paratus. Each individual vane can be flipped into or out of the film insertion path, enabling the machine operator to quick- ly and easily adjust the widths of the film insertion channels to accomodate film strips of different widths. An auxiliary roller aids in unrolling the film strips from their conventional spiral configuration. Film strips of assorted widths can thus be processed side-by-side through an automatic machine, with efficient use of machine width and without risk of interference with each other or with machine operation. -1a-
