ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The apparatus has at least two containers for baths of treating liquid. Each container accommodates a plurality of guide rollers which guide the carrier in a loop-shaped path through the container, the path having a bight, and a deflect- ing roller which deflects the carrier in the bight. All of the rollers are at least partly immersed in the respective bath. A receptacle is provided for accommodating a body of fresh rinsing water, and a carrier transfer roller is at least part- ly immersed in the body of water in the receptacle and engages and transfers the carrier from one to the other of the con- tainers. -1-
