ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A filter formed of a nonwoven fabric capable of removing particles from a fluid has attached to the fibers of said fabric a polymeric substance having a functional group capable of adsorbing said particles. In a preferred embodiment the filter is used to remove carbonaceous particles from a hydrocarbon liquid.
