An improved filter is provided for lowering levels of contaminants in domestic drinking water. The filter conains an oxidized activated carbon and at least one other type of adsorbent to remove cationic species and at least one other contaminant. The filter further achieves an efficient use of the adsorbents by including an envelope containing part or all of the adsorbents, which envelope minimizes the potential for flow by-pass.
L'invention porte sur un filtre amélioré permettant de réduire les taux de contaminants dans l'eau potable domestique. Le filtre contient un charbon actif oxydé et au moins un autre type d'adsorbant pour éliminer les espèces cationiques et au moins un autre contaminant. Ce filtre permet également d'utiliser efficacement les adsorbants grâce à une enveloppe qui contient une partie ou la totalité de ces adsorbants et qui réduit le potentiel de dérivation de l'écoulement.
