ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A filter pad for use with medical X-ray equipment and suitable for taking radiographs of human bones, calcifi- cations, soft tissues, etc..., located at the periphery of the body of a patient being radiographer. The filter pad has an elongated, homogeneous silicone rubber or plastic body having a trapezoidal transverse cross-section defining a wide base and a narrow base, with an outer side and an inner side joining the bases. Advantageously, the portion of the homogeneous body along the narrow base, has an X-ray absorbing capacity which is similar to or slightly higher than that of soft human body tissue.
