Stripping contaminants/impurities from a filter includes subjecting the filter to a negative gauge pressure and applying superheated solvent vapor to the filter while maintaining the negative gauge pressure. The filter can be heated prior to being subjected to the negative gauge pressure. The superheated vapor may be composed of the same compounds as impurities being removed from the filter. The filter may be an activated carbon filter. Clothes are dry cleaned by placing the clothes in a tumbler/dryer, sealing the tumbler/dryer, applying a negative gauge pressure to the tumbler/dryer, providing solvent to the tumbler/dryer, activating the tumbler/dryer to dry clean the clothes, removing the solvent from the tumbler/dryer, and simultaneously throttling hot solvent vapor into th tumbler/dryer while removing vapor from the tumbler/dryer in order to dry the clothes.

Pour séparer des contaminants/impuretés d'un filtre, on soumet le filtre à une pression relative négative et on applique sur ce dernier une vapeur de solvant surchauffée tout en maintenant la pression relative négative. On peut chauffer le filtre avant de l'exposer à la pression relative négative. La vapeur de solvant surchauffée peut être constituée des mêmes composés que les impuretés que l'on enlève du filtre. Le filtre peut être un filtre à charbon actif. On nettoie à sec des vêtements en les plaçant dans un tambour/séchoir que l'on ferme hermétiquement, en appliquant sur ce dernier une pression relative négative, en y envoyant le solvant, en l'activant pour qu'il sèche les vêtements, en enlevant le solvant et en étranglant simultanément la vapeur de solvant chaude envoyée dans celui-ci tout en évacuant la vapeur de celui-ci pour sécher les vêtements.
