Abstract of the Disclosure Described is a filter separator for decomposing a fluid consisting of a mixture of liquids containing solid components, said separator being composed of a filter press in combination with a micro- and ultrafiltration apparatus. The filter press is operable to separate the solid components from the fluid, while in the micro- and ultrafiltration apparatus the liquid components are separated from one another in accordance with their different molecular structures. The invention permits a modular construction with a very compact design of the assembly and relatively large filter surface areas (fig. 1).
