A filter system using a filter cartridge (40) adapted for disposal in an environmentally acceptable manner. The filter cartridge has no metal parts, and thus avoids the use of a metal center tube, or a center tube of any configuration. The housing (60) itself carries a permanent center tube (66). A sealing arrangement (50, 51) formed between the filter cartridge and the housing provides a radial seal isolating the outer periphery of the filter cartridge from the remainder thereof. Filter (41) and caps (44, 45) are in the lower pressure downstream zone, and thus any axial forces imposed on the filter place the filter media in tension to avoid the imposition of crushing loads on the un-supported filter.

L'invention concerne un système de filtration. Ce système utilise une cartouche de filtre (40) adaptée pour être mise au rebut d'une manière écologique. La cartouche de filtre ne comporte aucune pièce métallique et évite ainsi d'utiliser un tube central métallique, ou un tube central de toute configuration. Le boîtier (60) lui-même supporte un tube central permanent (66). Un dispositif d'étanchéité (50, 51) formé entre la cartouche de filtre et le boîtier assure une étanchéité radiale isolant la périphérie extérieure de la cartouche de filtre du reste de ce dernier. Un filtre (41) et des couvercles d'obturation (44, 45) se situent dans la zone en aval à faibles pression, et ainsi les forces axiales imposées sur le filtre placent le filtre sous tension pour éviter l'application de charges d'écrasement sur le filtre non supporté.
