ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This disclosure relates to a filter aid utilized in the Filtration of beverages, in particular of beer, in accordance with filtration process which comprises entirely or in part fibers of silicic acid having a staple length of about 30 to 7000 um and a diameter of about 4 to 20 um. The silicic fibers may be used either alone or in combination with kieselgur, precipitated silicic acid, perlite and other filter aids. In addition, it is also possible to blend the silicic fibers with organic fibers with organic fibers. The filter aid of this disclosure do not affect the taste of the liquid being filtered and ensures a long service life of the filter and a high degree of clarification.
