ABSTRACT A telephone switching system for a plurality of telephone lines in a telephone network, each line being con- nected to a port. The ports monitor and control signals on the lines, and transmit and receive voice signals that are coupled through a supervisory store. A call processor controls the switching network and, by transferring information with the supervisory store, also controls the port event processor. The port event processor also uses the information stored in the supervisory store to control the ports. The port event proces- sor also retrieves the sequentially-stored supervisory signals from the storage means, filters them and uses them in its con- trol of the ports, and updates the information in the supervis- ory store. The port event processor filters the stored super- visory signals by receiving successive time samples of the supervisory signals and generating a signal that reflects the majority of the sampled signals as the filtered supervisory signal.
