FILTERING SAMPLE TUBE Abstract A filtering sample tube for use in a centrifuge rotor having an inclined cavity for holding a sample tube. The filtering sample tube includes a reservoir section and a collector section. The reservoir section includes a reservoir having an open top sealed by a cap. The collector section contains a collector chamber for collecting filtered sample material. Screw threads are provided in the lower end of the reservoir section and in the upper end of the collector section to enable the two sections to be joined. The reservoir section includes a passageway which extends through its lower end. The inlet of the passageway is located at a point in the reservoir most remote from the axis of rotation. A filter is disposed over the inlet of the passageway. The passageway has an outlet in the underside of the lower end of the reservoir section. The outlet is lo- cated at a point more remote from the axis of rotation than the inlet so that a downward force is developed in the passageway during centrifugation to urge the passage of filtered sample material therethrough.
