Novel polypeptides formed from amino acid sequences corresponding to exposed domains on the surface of FimA, a protein making up a portion of type 1 pili of bacteria, such as <i>E. coli</i>, are disclosed. Also disclosed are compositions containing these novel polypeptides for use as vaccines and for generating specific antibodies for use in treatment and/or prevention of diseases, such as urinary tract infections, caused by bacteria of the family <i>enterobacteriaceae</i>.

L'invention concerne de nouveaux polypeptides formés à partir de séquences aminoacides correspondant à des domaines exposés sur la surface de Fim A, protéine constituant une zone de pili de type de bactéries telles que <i>E. coli</i>. Elle traite en outre de compositions contenant ces nouveaux polypeptides à utiliser comme vaccins et servant à produire des anticorps spécifiques à utiliser dans le traitement et/ou la prévention de maladies, telles que des infections des voies urinaires, provoquées par des bactéries de la famille des <i>enterobacteriaceae</i>.
