ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A finely-divided, monomodal protective-colloid stabilized aqueous dispersion of a copolymer of at least 75% by weight of units of vinyl chloride and ethylene and optionally copolymerized with up to 25% by weight of units of additional monomers unsatura- ted at the ethylene bond and having a solids content of 45 to 70% by weight, characterized in that the dispersions are not partially flocculated, the polymer has a mean particle size of 150 to 500 nm measured as mean weight in a disc centrifuge and a polydispersion index of not more than 1.8 and less than 50% of the polymer particles are larger than 1,000 nm and a process for the prepara- tion thereof using a single step radical polymerization of vinyl chloride, ethylene and optionally additional monomers such as vinyl esters useful as dispersion powders, adhesives, binders and concrete additives.
