A one-piece finger guide for a retracting finger of an auger is inserted into a uniquely shaped aperture in the auger tube and rotated to a locked position. In the locked position, a portion of the tube wall is trapped between inner retaining fingers and an outer retaining flange of the guide. In the locked position, two tabs snap into slots in the aperture, preventing the guide from reverse rotation out of the aperture.
