A finger ring has an annular ring portion slidable onto a human finger and an actuator mounted in a recess in the ring portion for pivotal movement relative thereto about a substantially tangential axis. A knife blade is pivotally mounted in the actuator for pivotal movement between a retracted position within the actuator and a projecting position in which the knife blade projects outwardly from the actuator through a slot therein. A separate mounting member to which the knife blade is also pivotally connected is provided, the mounting member having a base supported by the bottom of the recess in the ring portion. Pivotal movement of an end portion of the actuator about the tangential axis towards the bottom of the recess causes the knife blade to move from the retracted position to the projecting position and vice-versa.
