ABSTRACT The invention relates to a fire detector with a measuring chamber (9,9') limited by two electrodes (1,2), whereby an electric field is produced between the electrodes by a DC voltage source (4). The measuring electrode (1) is connected to the input of a current measuring device (3) without direct connection with the DC voltage source As soon as charged particles of smoke penetrate into the measuring chamber (9) between the electrodes, the electric field causes a motion of the positive and negative parti- cles. This charge drift induces a current into the measu- ring electrode and this current is measured.
