ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A fire door assembly for closing an opening in a wall in response to a predetermined condition has two or more door panels, a connection system for connecting a side edge of one of the door panels to an adjacent side edge of the other door panel in an edge-to-edge relationship, and flame break barriers interposed between the side edges of the panels and the connec- tion system to provide a flame-resistant barrier between the core of each panel and the connection system. Tie bars are secured to the top and bottom edges of the panels to reinforce the edge-to-edge connection. A support system for the door has a track that is free from all external interference to allow free passage of suitably configured rollers.
